About the Author:

After an initial career in experimental psychology, during which he held academic and research positions at Rhode Island College and Columbia University, Mr. Tasgal went back to school for an M.M. in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts.

An unusually eclectic musician, he studied violin with Julian Olevsky, Janet Packer and Philipp Naegele, cello with Leopold Teraspulsky and George Neikrug., and clarinet with Joseph Contino and Michael Sussman, and performs regularly on all three instruments, in orchestral and chamber settings, and in the famed Wholesale Klezmer Band. He has also performed extensively as keyboardist with various rock bands.

This method is the product of 25 years of teaching Suzuki violin and public school string classes. Mr. Tasgal also brings to this project much experience as a composer of educational music, including a piano concerto for student performers commissioned by the Massachusetts Music Teachers Assn.
