In response to many complaints from grouchy viola, cello and class string teachers that The Family Violin Method was much too cool to be for the violin only, the method has now been adapted to include viola and cello and is collectively called The Family String Method. The Family String Method is a sequence of original compositions carefully designed to:
- reveal the basics of string technique and music literacy in a fresh and simple way that offers easy success at each step;
- motivate and inspire students through delightful and enriching musical experiences;
- provide students with an opportunity to perform in diverse musical styles, including many shades of classical, ethnic, jazz, pop, folk, and more;
- make life easier for teachers (including the author)
It is also a course for parents to empower them to participate, thus the word “Family” in the title. Each lesson is built around a single piece or two, accompanied by user-friendly, often playful instructions for students and parents.
